There is no end in sight to the decline of the Hellenic Post (ELTA), as its management, with the blessing of the Mitsotakis government, announced that 25 branches will be closing next Monday. In fact, the decisions were published in «Diafgeia» just yesterday, on July 3.
According to the relevant decisions of ELTA, from July 10, «transactional activity» will be suspended at the following branches:
Kokkinia, Kalyvia Thorikou, Amfithea (2 P. Falirou), Agioi Anargyroi, Agia Triada Argolidas, Patras 4, Erythron Attica, Eleftherios Thessaloniki, Derigny in Athens, Argyroupolis, Charilaou in Thessaloniki, Korydallos, Kontopefko, Kolonaki, Kifissia (Center), Kato Patisia (42), Kaminia, Kallithea 3, Evkarpia Thessaloniki, Ellinoroson, Vytina Arcadia, Rio Hospital, Palairos Aitoloakarnania, Nea Ionia Volos, and Neapolis Nikaia.
In their decision, ELTA cites the «need to reorganize the network of branches of the Regional Directorate of Attica, Peloponnese & Islands.».
There is great concern among ELTA employees, as their CEO has announced a «restructuring plan,» as well as in local communities that are at risk of being left without branches.
It should be noted that ELTA had received €280 million in aid from the New Democracy party, but it appears that the money went up in smoke amid mismanagement, squandering of public funds, and direct assignments. It is no coincidence that the well-known Andreas Patsis was the administration's «favorite,» receiving over €822,000 in two years.

Our vision is to create a unified, fully modernized, and functional network with branches throughout the country, to strengthen and upgrade our presence in key areas as well as in the field of express delivery, by expanding our synergies with ELTA Courier. The new plan aims to upgrade the experience and service of our customers and increase our efficiency as a modern and fully competitive postal services company, while also creating the conditions for its further development.
So, we are moving forward, taking with us from the past what makes us stronger: our powerful name and reliable network, our long history and the relationship of trust we have built with our customers. We are leaving behind non-functional and outdated processes. In this way, we create added value, both for the company and for our people, you, through better working conditions, more efficient operation of our services, and an upgraded customer service experience.
The real strength of ELTA and its public image are all of us. I am confident that, with your active support, contribution, and commitment, our company will reach its rightful place on its new path and play its own role in the development of the Greek economy.
