«Two more deadly shipwrecks of persecuted refugees in the Aegean Sea, within 24 hours, with dozens of dead and missing persons, including infants and young children.
Capitalist barbarism in all its glory!
How many more deaths must there be, how many more shipwrecks must there be, before the necessary drastic measures are taken to stop the voyages of terror?» says the KKE in a statement «on the two long-lasting shipwrecks with refugees in the Aegean Sea».
«As long as the policy of repression and confinement against the uprooted people, the imperialist wars continue, the more the desperation of these people will lead them into the clutches of the traffickers and to new, more dangerous routes», the KKE stresses and adds:
«The ND government and the other parties that supported, support and implement the EU's reactionary strategy on Refugees and Migration, the Dublin Regulation, the unacceptable construct of the “safe third country” and the despicable EU-Turkey Joint Statement, are irreparably exposed.
The abolition of all these agreements and decisions, the creation of Asylum Committees within Turkey, under the responsibility of the EU and the UNHCR, so that refugees can travel directly from there to their countries of actual destination, without the deadly journeys and the extortion of traffickers, is a matter of life and death.».
«Let the new year mark the rise of the peoples» struggle against imperialist plans and war, against the causes of refugees and migration. Solidarity, such as that shown by the people of Paros to the victims of the latest shipwreck, is an integral part of this struggle," the KKE concludes in its statement.
