Attack on the government for «profiteering, the Patsis phenomenon, and the blatant violation of the rule of law by the Mitsotakis regime,» says SYRIZA-PS strategic communications advisor Nasos Iliopoulos in an interview with Eleftheria Kalamatas.
«The demand for justice encapsulates and expresses the views of the majority of citizens,» says Mr. Iliopoulos, adding that «SYRIZA-PS is fighting for immediate measures that will put an end to the injustice of profiteering, increase income, and regulate private debt in a fair manner.».
The greatest injustice currently experienced by citizens is profiteering, argues Mr. Iliopoulos, adding: «Under the Mitsotakis government, we are seeing record highs in energy and fuel prices. Inequality and poverty are on the rise again. We are fighting for a series of immediate measures that will put an end to the injustice of profiteering, increase income, and regulate private debt in a fair manner. At the same time, while citizens are counting every last euro, government officials are literally plundering society through an opaque system of direct contracts. The “Patsis” phenomenon is not an isolated incident. Finally, the violent violation of the rule of law through surveillance legitimises the phrase “Mitsotakis regime”. Precisely for this reason, the demand for justice encapsulates and expresses a majority trend among citizens.
He argues that «a necessary prerequisite is the removal of the Mitsotakis regime, the removal of political personnel who violate the rule of law and at the same time plunder public wealth.» Referring to the timing of the elections, he says: «Every day with the Mitsotakis government is a lost day for the country. Elections must be held immediately. Any political decisions on the formation of a government the next day will be taken on the basis of the verdict of the Greek people. SYRIZA-PS is fighting to be the leading party in the next elections and will seek to form a progressive government based on the results of proportional representation.» Regarding the local elections, he notes: «SYRIZA-PS now has in its ranks a large number of citizens who have the willingness and experience to take on responsibilities at the local government level.».
Regarding government regulations concerning the media sector, he argues: «It was the Mitsotakis government that wanted to disrupt the media landscape, which primarily affects employees, but also the news itself. Bringing order to every level of the difficult media sector is a priority for us in any case. The criterion of work must be fundamental to access to public resources and the operation of the Registry.’.
