Every year, on days like this, the Google publishes the searches made throughout the year. What did Greeks search for in categories like celebrities or TV shows and what did they «google» in 2022?;
Google's annual Year In Search 2022 listings has become an institution, as it is a «digital identity» of the last 365 days of our lives.
In it, everything we watched, who we admired, who we lost and in general, everything that caught the attention of Greeks and sought them out in another year of intense topicality.
The Year In Search lists are based on our daily searches in Search, that unique, valuable tool that gives billions of people on our planet access to a vast but organized ocean of information about anything that might cross our minds.
What did we do most search in Greece?;
Roula Pispirigou, Ukraine and the death of Queen Elizabeth, as expected, were among the topics that Greeks searched for in 2022, while in the famous «Why» for example, apart from the references to the war in Ukraine, the real protagonist is the octopus and why we shouldn't eat it.
In particular, what emerges from this year's searches are typical of the «profile» of the year:
- The dominant trend is the increasing familiarity with our digital everyday life, as evidenced by our searches for all kinds of passes (fuel pass, edupass, power pass, etc.). Logically, Ukraine, some health issues - vaccination certificate, personal doctor - as well as the TV series «Sasmo» appear in the top ten.
- Among the people who have been our main concern is Roula Pispirigou, followed by Makis Katzetzoglou. The connective tissue of all the names on the list - both Greek and international - is, as always, current affairs, as is the case with Will Smith and Amber Heard, who starred in the controversial trial with her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.
- The list of the deceased starts with Queen Elizabeth and includes mostly beloved Greek actors and singers, as well as the American actress, Emmy award winner Anne Heche.
- In sports, we left our adoration for the tennis courts and (with some exceptions) returned to our familiar footballing haunts, with rather expected searches for the Greek -and not only- league.
- Very interesting (as always) are our questions in the «What is» section. Politics, economics (mostly crypto) and current affairs dominate, while the term «aphasia» also appears, probably in reference to the health problem of the well-known actor, Bruce Willis. Also, it is worth saying that the question "What is NATO?" is not only on the Greek Year in Search lists, but also on those of other countries.
- In TV stuff, we vote for Greek fiction leaving only 3 slots for foreign entries! On the contrary, in movies, among all the foreign ones, only one Greek production stands out.
- In the search for «When» - as well as «Why» - the great variety of topics reflects precisely the «magic» of Search, to which we constantly resort in order to solve our infinite and diverse questions. In the famous «Why», for example, apart from references to the war in Ukraine, the real protagonist is the... octopus and why we shouldn't eat it!
