Outrage from the Mayor on the issue of waste management as he posts photos of an old mattress that was wrongly placed next to a rubbish bin.
As it is known, bulky items should be left only in the areas designated by the Technical Service, where there are special bins. Here we are. Read the comment of our Mayor:
«On Friday or Saturday someone bought a new mattress to sleep more comfortably and obviously it was a good thing. He/she took the old one and threw it where it suited him/her! Next to the household garbage bins in the centre of St. Pelagia!
Does the person who did this realize how much of a problem it creates for our City's Sanitation Department?; the mattress is not household rubbish or recyclable. It should only be collected from the “chain link” i.e. the bulk collection vehicle that will have to modify its planned route for the irresponsibility of a single person.
The aesthetic problem I don't even comment on. Of course, if we could prove who was responsible, the fine would have been imposed already. But these “jobs” are usually done in the midnight hours...»
