In full swing are “investigations” of Institute of Tourism Research and Forecasting (ITEP), which will serve as a guide for hotel subsidy programmes, but also to inform professionals in the sector about the modern needs of the hotel industry. Greek hotel industry.
The research tool of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, as the president of FORTH reports to APE-MPA, Konstantinos Svinou, is already running 3 surveys, exclusively concerning Greek hotels. The first survey focuses on the “skills-capabilities” of the labour market. What are the job needs of hotels. What skills must staff have to fill the jobs required are some of the issues that those directly involved will provide their own answers, with the aim of these to highlight the real needs of the hotel units.
In fact, such surveys, according to Ms.Svenou, will also constitute a training guide both for future postgraduate programmes. At the same time, they will also provide a stimulus for the integration of tourism learning at lower levels of education.
The second survey focuses on technology, and aims to highlight the current technological situation of hotels, so that the subsidy programmes that will run in the next period will be targeted to the needs of hotels, as Ms.Svenou notes. As regards the third ITEP survey, it has to do with accessibility, and the aim is the mapping of hotel units that meet the accessibility needs of people with mobility difficulties.
On this point, the President of FORTH noted that this survey will highlight what programmes can be used to upgrade hotel infrastructure, to meet the needs of these people.
Moreover, FORTH has recently completed a survey on the sustainability, the results of which will be announced in the near future.
