They passed right by 9 months from the day when the road surface subsided and the wall of Agios Ilias – Alexandradon Street collapsed at the «Psilos Toichos» point» after heavy rainfall. The crossing was particularly dangerous as the ground had been subsiding for several years.
The road repair schedule was announced. by the decision of the Mayor issued by the Municipality of Kythira this year, on March 31, with a budget of €74,400.
Restoration work has now begun at the site, and the road is expected to be safe for use within the next few weeks.
It should be noted that The Local Council of Karvounades had submitted documents to the Municipality, reporting the dangerousness of the road. At this point, however, the Technical Services of the Municipality of Kythira have not taken any action to repair the road and ensure the safety of those passing through.
Fortunately, there was nothing worse. and now the settlements Kato Livadi, Skouliakon, Goudianikon, Alexandradon, Agios Ilias, Avlemonas, and Paleopolis will once again be served safely.
