With all the pomp and solemnity befitting the occasion, with the participation of hundreds of pilgrims from Kythera and every corner of Greece who arrived on the island, the Patroness of Kythera, Panagia Myrtidiotissa, was honoured.

In the afternoon of Friday, September 23rd, the Liturgy of the Small Vespers was celebrated in the Cathedral of the finding of the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary of Myrtidosis.

Then the Great Archpriestly Vespers was celebrated in the new Catholicos of the Monastery, presided by the Theophilic Bishop Athanasios of Oleni and co-chaired by the Hierarchs present.

At 22:00 a Holy Vigil was celebrated in the Katholikon of Finding until 02:00 in the morning.

On the morning of Saturday, September 24th, the day of the feast, the Orthros and the solemn Archpriestly Divine Liturgy was celebrated, presided by His Eminence, Metropolitan Kallinikos of Artis.

The festivities were honored with the presence of the Civil and Military Authorities of the country, representatives and commanders of the Navy, the Security Corps, the Greek Police, the Coast Guard, the Fire Department.

The great celebration of Kythera was honored with the presence of the Mayor of Kythera Mr. Efstratios Harhalakis with the members of the Municipal Council, the Deputy Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy Mr. Kostas Katsafados, the MP of ND.Mr. Nikolaos Manolakos, Mr. Spyros Spyridon, Managing Director of the EETAA, the President of the Kythera & Antikythera Property Fund Mr. Evangelos Venardos, the Governor of the Kythera Hospital Mr. Georgios Megalokonomos and other officials.
