Interventions aimed at energy upgrade 3 school units in the Kythera, announced the Municipality of Kythira. The project, with a total budget of 229.000 €, will be half covered by the Attica and the rest - after a tender - from the Municipality's own resources.
The upgrade will concern primary schools Country and Carbonaceous, as well as the kindergarten Livadi. The project will contribute to improving the living conditions inside the building and reducing maintenance costs and energy consumption.

«Another important funding was approved for our Municipality, in the framework of the implementation of the proposal «Energy Upgrade of Kythera School Buildings» of the Operational Programme Attica 2014-2020. The total budget of the project is 229.000€ and the amount of funding approved by the decision of the Attica Regional Governor, Mr. George Patoulis is 100.000 €, while the additional amount required after the auction of the project -where significant discounts are expected- will be covered by the Municipality's own resources.
The project concerns the implementation of interventions for the Energy Upgrade of three (3) school buildings of the Municipality of Kythera, namely the Primary School of Chora, the Primary School of Karvounades and the Kindergarten of Livadi.
The project will include:
- Replacement of Frames
- Application of thermal insulation system in the building shell
- Heating system upgrade
- Cooling system upgrade
The implementation of the project will result in significant improvement of living conditions (lighting, cooling and heating) in the buildings for pupils and teachers but also the reducing the cost of the energy consumed (electricity and fuel) and building maintenance costs, saving financial resources of the Municipality that can be used for other activities.
After the interventions have been carried out, each building will be upgraded by at least two energy efficiency classes, in accordance with the KENAK 2017, namely:
- Chora Primary School from energy category «H» to energy category «C»
- Primary School of Karvounades from energy category «Z» to energy category «C»
- Livadi Kindergarten from energy category «Z» to energy category «C
The implementation of the project will achieve reducing the annual primary energy consumption of buildings by 219.589,90 kWh and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 104.20 tonnes of CO2 per year.»
