Shortly before 11.00 at night on Tuesday, it was announced by the president of the Kythiraiki Brotherhood of Piraeus Athens Mr. Vrettos Kypriotis, in his personal Facebook account, that the Kythirian Dionysis Koulentianos, who was a member of the association with a significant contribution, passed away.
Dionysis Koulentianos was born in Piraeus on 7 June 1935 to Kytherian parents. A graduate of the Greek-French School “St.Piere”, he followed the path of self-education. He married Stamatoula Konomou. They had two sons. He was engaged in literature and journalism. He worked for many years at ERT.
He was involved with poetry from a very young age. He published several books of poetry, short stories and translations. His favourite fields of interest are philosophy, psychology, metaphysics and religions. His verses have been translated into more than twenty foreign languages. His poems have been published in Greek and foreign poetry anthologies. He had published thirty books. He is a member of distinguished organizations in the field of poetry and culture.
The ideals of Dionysis Koulentianos were freedom, love and research. Humanism, love and romanticism are discernible in his work. In 1987, he published Tsirigotikoys Kaimos, a collection of short stories inspired by his homeland, Kythera. He lived in Piraeus and vacationed in Agia Pelagia, Kythera.
