On the occasion of the upcoming start of the summer season, the founder of drakakis tours, Panagiotis Drakakis, informs the professionals of Kythera about the new data on air and ferry connections of the island and explains why he believes that the extension of the tourist season can become a reality.

«Good morning and Happy Month!
A new season begins with the hopes and expectations of all of us to be able to heal the wounds left by the last two very difficult years of the pandemic in our industry and beyond.
With signs of a return to normality now visible in the health crisis, I would like to believe that every collective and/or personal effort for a constructive season will bear fruit.
In the context of an optimistic start, which we believe is necessary for all of us, we would like to inform you of the following, so that you in turn can disseminate them as much as you can for the better and more complete information of the world:
Recently we were informed that unfortunately the flights from Thessaloniki to Kythera were cancelled due to operational problems, which we regretted, but we will keep the positive part of the developments and let this be the event that will fill us with hope! Finally the subsidy for the air link between Kythera and Thessaloniki via Kalamata was approved from winter 2023 with three weekly services and almost daily in the summer season. One realizes that such a development can be a springboard for the extension of the tourist season and thus a unique opportunity to evolve and expand the services we provide as professionals.
Regarding the schedule of the ferry's routes Aqua Jewel, we have managed to modify this in such a way as to cover the travel needs to the fullest extent during the festive periods and thus facilitate the tourist traffic on the island for as long as possible. Therefore, as you will have already seen in the updated timetable for the 2022 summer season, we have secured an itinerary for Saturday 24/9/22 from/to Antikythera and Kissamos in order to ensure the uninterrupted attendance of groups for the the celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Myrtidiotissa.
Furthermore, the 2nd route from Kythera to Gythio and vice versa every Sunday, where now in combination with the already existing one every Wednesday create new perspectives and now it is possible to reach the island by road even from the other side of Greece (something that was never possible via Neapolis).
Finally to inform you that the ship Aqua Jewel during the week 17-23/6/22 will be refuelled and will therefore not operate on those days.
