The Member of Parliament of Laconia Stavros Arachovitis made a statement on the issue of the donation of the SNF for the construction of the Sparta Hospital:
Great concern and many questions have been raised in the local community by the “wreck” of the donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for the construction of the General Hospital of Sparta, as well as two more hospital institutions in Northern Greece.
Was the government aware of this impasse? And does it intend, even after the fact, to take the initiative to ensure the implementation of the SNF contract with the Greek State?;
It seems that the Mitsotakis government was only interested in changing the legal status of the neodlyn hospitals (from a NPO to a NPI) and to «instrumentalize» the donation of the SNF to promote the strategy of PPPs in Health and for reasons of petty political exploitation in local communities.
For the progress of the projects, the adherence to the timetables, the problems in the tendering procedures, not a word! Even now, the society was informed about the failure of the tender not by the government but by the Foundation!
We are waiting for an official update from the Ministry of Health and, above all, a political commitment that the projects will be launched and will proceed as planned.
