To Justice brought by the Mayor of Kythera Eustratios Charhalakis for the clarification of the in a case concerning the distribution of letters to citizens, which concern publications of NtaskasPress pursuant to which the the famous Antikythera case with the recovery of antiquities from the Antikythera seabed. It is recalled that the shipowner Panos Laskaridis had been accused for the illegal recovery of an ancient anchor and a cannon in August 2020, and finally was discharged by unanimous decision No 432/2023 (1),(2) of the Piraeus Plenary Council, which was delivered on May 29, 2023.
Interestingly, Mr. Harhalakis claims that he's close to the trail of the letter smugglers, shows «election finger» and expresses its confidence that soon the competent prosecutor and the State authorities they will find the perpetrator Listing to answer to justice.
Along with his statement he released photos from publication - letter bearing as its author the journalist Yannis Daska, Letterhead, as well as the first and last page of acquittal in the Laskaridis case. The publication has been posted on the website NtaskasPress. But read his statement.
Statement by the Mayor of Kythera
The Mayor of Kythera/Antikythera and head of our Party, Mr. Efstratios Harhalakis, said the following:
“Recently, stupid and largely uninformed and incomprehensible publications have been circulated and republished on various electronic news sites and websites (of dubious authority and seriousness), whose content is absolutely false, unfounded and slanderous about my person, with the obvious purpose of damaging my image in view of the upcoming municipal elections.
Recently, the very same publications were sent by post to dozens of recipients in Kythera, institutions and citizens, by group mailing through the ELTA.
These publications concern on the one hand, the case of the retrieval from the port of Antikythera of an old cannon by the National Benefactor Mr. Laskaridis, a case for which the competent judicial and prosecutorial authorities have ruled, IMMEDIATELY, that there is no case of committing any offence and attribution of responsibility, so that any claim to the contrary, to be false and slanderous, and on the other hand, false and untrue allegations of specific circles and persons, which are purposefully circulated and channeled in the electronic media, regarding the affairs of the Municipality, which complaints, these publications uncritically and with great pleasure adopt and with an obvious aim to hurt my personality, present as facts, that is, as true facts, which allegedly highlighted the «journalistic investigation».
It is well known and absolutely deplorable the way that some people choose to move in an electoral way in order to pursue selfish ends, and it is also well known, in all cases, that this kind of action always falls flat in the end and those responsible receive the scolding of their actions from the Justice system, to which I have already appealed.
Fortunately for me and unfortunately for them, in their unfathomable stupidity and their terrifying panic, they made sure to leave enough «traces» so that the competent Public Prosecutor and the State Authorities will soon reveal the identity of these obscene slanderers and they themselves will receive the aftermath of their actions. The case is already in the hands of my Legal Advisers and be assured that those responsible will be brought to justice, both criminally and civilly.
With such ridiculous actions, not only are elections not won, but it is certain that the trust of citizens in my person and our party, which for 9 years has proven its ethos and its work”.
