Live bat caused chaos during the screening of the film «The Batman» in Texas of USA, When a viewer exposed it as a hoax, the cinema manager confirmed this.
The screening of the new film, starring Robert Pattinson as the eponymous hero of DC Comics, at Moviehouse & Eatery by Cinepolis, at Austin, turned into a live performance when one of the audience members brought the bat into the cinema.
Anelise Holioch, marketing and communications director at Cinépolis, confirmed in a statement that the bat's presence was the result of a prank.
«Unfortunately, a spectator attempted to play a prank in one of our auditoriums,» Holioch said in a statement broadcast by NBC News. «We immediately contacted the appropriate local animal control agency, and they monitored the situation to ensure the safety of the audience, employees, and the bat,» she explained.
Spectators recorded a video of the bat flying onto the screen and fleeing, with cinema employees chasing after it.
«I'm going to turn off all these lights and try to guide her to a well-lit area,» says an employee in one of the videos. «If you feel uncomfortable being in the dark with a bat, please leave now,» he can be heard saying.
Mark Slot, director of the animal care center in Austin, said the prank was particularly dangerous, as there have been confirmed cases of rabies in bats in the area.
«Bats have tiny teeth, so you might not even know you've been bitten. We want people to understand that rabies is no joke,» he said. «Anyone who finds a bat on the ground should not touch it; they should call the local animal control service,» he said.
