The survivors of the fatal shipwreck that took place in Diakofti on 5 October departed on Wednesday afternoon.
As broadcast by the radio station Adelin, the migrants were transported to the port by buses, hired by the Municipality of Kythera, accompanied by the police and the Civil Protection of Kythera, under the responsible Deputy Mayor, Mr. Yannis Katsanevakis. There, they boarded the ship of the line, Aqua Jewel, bound for Gythio. Once they arrive there, they will board a coach bound for a Reception and Identification Facility in the hinterland.
The area where the migrants were hosted last week in Frilingianika is currently being cleaned by volunteers.
