Every year, the Athens Jazz presents global developments in the field of jazz music to the Greek public. This year, it returns to Technopolis and from May 23 to 29, 2022, it invites, for the first time, exclusively female artists and bands with female frontwomen to take the stage.
Seeking to highlight the issue of female representation in the music industry in general, and in jazz in particular, Athens Jazz is creating an international network of communication and collaboration among professionals, promoting the music and stories of female jazz musicians.
At the same time, Athens Jazz is growing and, for the first time, is presenting a series of parallel events outside Technopolis, in venues belonging to the Municipality of Athens and throughout the city: concerts and pop-up events in unexpected locations in Athens, a photography exhibition, film screenings, and a day dedicated to women.
Of course, this year's festival would not be complete without its two now established companions, the METApolis photography exhibition and MeetMarket: Athens Jazz edition.
