St. Arachovitis: “ELGO-DIMITRA Bill: without strategy and central line”

Although the Opposition insisted that there should be no meeting of the Committee on Production and Trade and no hearing of stakeholders on the day of the general strike for the dams, the government of the Southwest, callous as always, proceeded normally with the meetings, presenting a bad text as a draft law for ELGO-DIMITRA.

The soaring cost of production following the energy boom, the gap between producer and consumer prices on the supermarket shelf, as well as counterfeiting and domestication, lead to the need for controls at all stages. A key shortcoming of the bill is that there is no provision for cooperation on controls. Many services of the Ministry of Agriculture, of bodies supervised by the Ministry, such as the Hellenic Food Safety Authority, carry out controls, but no provision is made for synergies, consultation and joint action with these services and bodies.
