In the emergence of the Porto Carras in top tourist destination in the Mediterranean, with even the creation of seven-star hotels being explored, is the aim of the closed competition for the new master plan of the historic complex, launched a few days ago by the Belterra Investments Group, in the interests of the expatriate businessman Ivan Savvidis.
The group has already pre-selected the leading international architectural firms that will participate in the competition for this investment, which the group describes in a statement as «of strategic national importance». These are architectural firms with extensive experience in master-planning, architectural and urban design services, as well as expertise in destination development studies as mixed-use resorts around the world.

According to the timetable, the initial proposals for the master plan will be submitted by the participants in August, to be followed by «the next steps, which include the commissioning of further studies based on the architectural and environmental assessment of the initial proposals».
Speaking to APE-MPA, sources close to the group said that the aim is that at the end of 2021 or at the latest in early 2022 Belterra will have «in its hands» the final proposal, which will be the plan for the next day of Porto Carras. In fact, according to the same sources, within the next few days, executives of the architectural firms that have been pre-selected will make a visit to the physical areas of the complex, in Neos Marmaras, Halkidiki, in order to see closely the area for which they are called to formulate their plan.
What the investment plan includes
The company's investment plan includes redevelopment of the total area of 18,000 acres, with provision and exploration for the development of 7-star hotel units, the formation of a high quality private residential area, but also the upgrading of the casino, the winery and the marina and the creation of high quality sports facilities, as well as other activities and facilities.
