Today is Women's Day, and Kythera.News is sharing photos from its blog with its readers By Eleni Harou.

Eleni Harou: A woman of Tsirigo, a woman of hard work, sacrifice, and patience

In a Facebook post, Eleni Harou highlights Kythira’s unbreakable connection to Mother Earth. A woman who carved out her existence amid the shadows of death, exile, and war, and who always found refuge and solace in the mother of all, Myrtidiotissa.

From Eleni Harou’s personal blog, we also learn that women in Greece voted for the first time in municipal elections in 1934, while they had to wait a little longer for parliamentary elections, with their right to vote being enshrined in the 1950s.
