A prolonged heat wave is expected to affect the country, according to the forecasts of the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr.
High temperatures are expected from Wednesday 12 July, with a peak on Friday 14-Saturday 15 July. Maximum values will reach 42-43 degrees Celsius locally. According to available data, temperatures will then show a slight decrease, but will remain very high for several days.
The National Observatory of Athens presents in an attached table, heat waves of long duration that occurred in the period 1981-2022, from the deadly heat wave of 1987, lasting 12 days, to the two heat waves of 2021, each lasting 11 days.
