In a landmark move for the Trifyllio Foundation of Kythira, the doctor Emmanuel C. Summer announced his resignation from the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors, after 12 years of successful service. This decision, although accepted with regret by the members of the Board, is described by him as an «act of renewal» in the staffing of the Foundation's leadership. Read on:

RESIGNATION OF A DOCTOR EMM. C. SUMMER FROM THE POSITION OF CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE INSTITUTION AND RESTRUCTURING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
After more than a dozen years of highly successful service as President of the Trifyllion Foundation of Kytheria, Dr. Emmanuel G. Kalokairinos submitted his resignation as President to the Board of Directors on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
Despite the request of all the members of the Board to revoke his decision and continue to chair the Foundation, Mr.Kalokairinos thanked the members of the Board for once again expressing their love, appreciation and trust in him, but remained unconvinced in his decision, stating that in this way he wishes to contribute to the renewal of the staffing of the Board, As his predecessor and already Honorary President of the Foundation, Professor George I. Kasimatis, has done in the past, remaining, like him, a member of the Board. as well as all those who from time to time served as Presidents and members of the Local Ephorate of the Nursing Home and all the employees of the Foundation and the Nursing Home for their unstinting cooperation throughout his term as President of the Foundation and their unreserved support in his effort to strengthen the Foundation financially and organizationally and to improve the services it provides to our elderly compatriots, despite the adverse conditions he faced.
Thereafter, each member of the Board shall. individually thanked the outgoing President for the cooperation and all, with one voice, pointed out that his presidency was not only not without benefit but that on the contrary it was, literally, stormy, since he became President in the midst of the biggest economic crisis that our country has faced in the last eighty years and, as if that were not enough, immediately afterwards he was called upon to deal with the health crisis, which so plagued us all. However, the outgoing President, through his handling and the sympathy shown by the staff of the Foundation, managed to get the Foundation through these two infillings unscathed and then lead it to further growth and improvement. For these reasons and for his more than fifty years of selfless service to every suffering Kytherian, the Board unanimously decided to proclaim him Honorary President of the Foundation.
Subsequently, following a proposal by the outgoing and already Honorary President, which was unanimously accepted by all members of the Board, the Board of Directors was restructured as follows: Gabriel N. Nikiforakis, the then Vice President, was elected as President, Emmanuel P. Kalligeros, the then Treasurer, and Ioannis P. Kasimatis as Treasurer, while, despite his objections, after a general request-application, the General Secretary remained the civilian Nikolaos P. Glytsos, who has been successfully serving in this position since 2011.
The newly elected President thanked the outgoing President for his honorary proposal and all the members of the Board. for the exceptional honor of electing him as President of the Foundation and even in succession to a whole series of distinguished and renowned Kytherians of renowned prestige and contribution, who have served as Presidents, especially the late Professor John D. Stratigiou, Professor George I. Kasimatis and the just retired Emmanuel G. Kalokairinou, at whose side he served for over thirty years and from whom, as well as from the late Dimitrios L. Komis, he learned much. He stated that he was fully aware of the magnitude of the responsibility and the problems he was undertaking to manage. However, he considers it his duty to the Founder, the Benefactors and the Donors, but primarily to our fellow countrymen who are cared for in our Nursing Home, to assume this responsibility and to devote all his energies to achieving the objectives of the Foundation, and he hopes that, with the cooperation and support of all the members of the Board, the Local Ephoria and the employees, he will be able to live up to the honor he has been given.
Finally, the newly elected Vice President and Treasurer, in turn, thanked the other members of the Board for the honor and assured that they will do their utmost for the success of the Foundation's objectives.
