Η Egypt and the Turkey is near the delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone in the Eastern Mediterranean, according to the MP of the ruling party of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Ismail Emrah Karagel.
Speaking to the journal «Yeni Safak», the co-chairman of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee, even predicted that «if the delimitation agreement is signed Turkey's EEZ - Egypt, the EU will be taken out of the equation. Η Egypt is close to being signed. God willing, it will see the light of day.».
«Then the EU will have virtually no means to reach the eastern Mediterranean,» Karagel added, noting that «the EU and Greece are trying to consolidate their tyranny in the eastern Mediterranean through the Egypt».
«Moreover, the maritime zone that Greece claims to own actually belongs to Egypt and will return to Cairo. Diplomatic contacts with Egypt are continuing. If Cairo has the good intention of approaching things rationally, it will find that such an agreement is vital to its own interests.
These maritime zones have serious potential for the discovery of hydrocarbons. That is why Egypt has come closer (to Turkey). I hope there will be an agreement,’ the Turkish ruling party MP concluded.
