The Federation of Parents and Guardians of Attica Region supports the Parents' Associations of Kythera High School and Lyceum, denouncing the serious shortages of teachers and the shrinking of schools. Despite government claims of solving the problems, students remain without basic teachers, while departmental mergers make education more difficult.
The Federation demands immediate filling of vacancies, reversal of mergers and better housing conditions for teachers, condemning the existing infrastructure as inadequate. Read the release below.

The example of Kythera where numbers prosper and schools suffer
Despite the celebrations of Mr.Pierrakakis for the example of Kythera and the effective response to the shortcomings in the island's high school, the students and parents of the island are experiencing the shrinkage of their schools and their transformation into third-class citizens, because they happen to live in an inaccessible area.
The Board of the Federation of Parents of Attica supports the Parents and Guardians Associations of Kythera High School and Lyceum in their just struggle for the educational right of their children and equal access to knowledge.
REQUEST
To return the teachers of the Kythera High School who were illegally placed in the High School.
To bring back the mergers of school sections of the Kythera High School and Lyceum.
To fill the vacancies (Biologist, Mathematics, Philologist and Computer Science) of the Kythera High School that create a serious shortage in national examinations.
To immediately fill the vacancies of the five sections of the Kythera High School, in the specialties of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, Geography, Religious Studies, Social Sciences, Music, Technology, Informatics, Art
To meet the needs of the Integration Department of Kythera High School and specifically in the specialties of Literature, Mathematics and Physics.
To stop the filling of vacancies through overtime of the teachers already in service in both schools, which is detrimental to the quality of teaching of basic subjects.
Teachers should teach only the subject for which they studied and are appointed (and not the physics teacher should teach mathematics).
The issue of housing for teachers should be solved IMMEDIATELY and they should not be forced to stay in the cells of the remote Monastery of the Holy Monastery of Kythera, as proposed by the municipal administration.
Our children are not numbers !
Their teachers are not world leaders in the island territory!
