The weather forecast for the next three days in our country

Latest news on the distribution of phenomena - Saturday, February 4, 10:00 a.m.

According to the latest forecasts from the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr, over the next three days until noon on Monday, February 6, we expect the following in our country:

  • On Saturday, February 4, rain is expected in the lowlands, with a chance of local storms in coastal and island areas and snowfall in the mountains. Snowfall is also expected in semi-mountainous areas of central and northern Greece, while with the gradual drop in temperature from the afternoon hours, snowfall in central and northern areas will also occur in low-altitude areas (locally even in low-lying areas). However, the phenomena in the north will weaken in most areas by the evening and are expected to remain very localised in parts of Macedonia and Thrace.

  • On Sunday, February 5, rain and local storms are initially expected in the Aegean Sea, with a chance of hail. Local and light snowfall is likely in parts of Macedonia and Thrace, while local rain is expected in the lowlands and snowfall even in low-altitude areas of Eastern Central Greece and the Northeast Peloponnese. Before midday, with temperatures falling from north to south, the phenomena are expected to intensify, with heavy snowfall and local snowstorms expected in low-lying areas of the North Aegean, the southernmost parts of Chalkidiki, southeastern Thessaly, the Sporades, Euboea, and eastern mainland Greece (including Attica). After midday, snowfall is expected even in low-lying areas of the northern and eastern Peloponnese.

Rain and local storms, possibly accompanied by hail, are expected in Crete, while heavy snowfall is expected initially in mountainous areas and gradually in semi-mountainous parts of the island. In the afternoon/early evening, snowfall is also expected in low-lying areas of the Cyclades. In the evening, snowfall is expected to intensify and become widespread in Thrace and the islands of the northeastern Aegean.

  • On Monday, February 6, the phenomena are expected to be limited to the North Aegean, the Sporades, Euboea, Eastern Sterea (including Attica), Southeastern Thessaly, the Cyclades, and Crete.

The latest forecast data on the development of the phenomena will be followed by a new update of the forecasts.
