When are the May pensions and the special Easter financial aid paid?

The payment of the main and supplementary pensions for May and of emergency financial assistance to low-income retirees, uninsured seniors, and recipients of disability benefits OPEC, beneficiaries Minimum Guaranteed Income and recipients of child benefits, includes, among other things, the scheduling of payments by the e-EFKA, the OPEC and OAED, for the period of April 18–22. According to an announcement by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, a total of more than 2.4 billion euros will be paid out to over 5 million beneficiaries.

Specifically:

1. From April 18 through 22, e-EFKA will make the following scheduled payments as part of the agency’s regular payments:

• On Holy Tuesday, April 19, 552.5 million euros will be paid out for May’s primary and supplementary pensions to 974,228 beneficiaries. This includes retirees from the former OAEE, OGA, and ETAA agencies, as well as those from the former NAT, former ETAT, former ETAP-MME, and DEI.

• On Holy Wednesday, April 20, 741.5 million euros will be paid out for the May main and supplementary pensions to 1,476,228 beneficiaries from the former IKA-ETAM, banks, OTE, and the government. This applies to retirees whose AMKA number ends in 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

• On Holy Wednesday, April 20, 11 million euros will also be paid to 28,000 beneficiaries as advance payments of their May pensions, in accordance with Law 4778/2021.

• On Holy Thursday, April 21, 742 million euros will be paid out for the May main and supplementary pensions to 1,477,955 beneficiaries from the former IKA-ETAM, banks, OTE, and the government (for retirees whose AMKA ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8).

• In addition, next week, 15.1 million euros will be paid out to 700 beneficiaries following the issuance of decisions regarding lump-sum payments.

• Finally, 13.9 million euros will be paid to 56,571 insured individuals for cash benefits (maternity, pregnancy, sickness, and accident benefits, as well as funeral expenses).

Special Payments

As e-EFKA has already announced, on Holy Wednesday, April 20, 2022, the special Easter financial assistance of 200 euros will be credited to the accounts of 634,000 low-income pensioners. It should be noted that this figure does not include pensioners who receive a pension from the General Accounting Office, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 3 of Article 4 of Law 4387/2016 (war veterans with disabilities, artists, etc.).

1. On Holy Thursday, April 21, OPEC will disburse the emergency aid to vulnerable social groups, as previously announced by the government, as follows:

• 138,515 recipients of the OPEC disability allowance will receive a one-time financial assistance payment of 200 euros.

• 32,000 uninsured seniors will receive a one-time financial assistance payment of 200 euros.

• 223,529 recipients of the Minimum Guaranteed Income will receive a double payment of the benefit.

• 580,000 child benefit recipients will receive an increased benefit.

1. The following payments will be made by the OAED:

• 9 million euros to 23,000 beneficiaries for the payment of unemployment benefits and other benefits.

• 27 million euros will be paid to 16,000 beneficiaries as part of subsidized employment programs.

• 700,000 euros will be paid to 1,000 mothers for subsidized maternity leave.

• 500,000 euros will be paid to 1,000 beneficiaries who participated in public service programs.
