The authorities proceeded with the arrest of the former artistic director of the National Theatre, Dimitris Lignadis, following a warrant issued against him.
The prosecution brought against the well-known actor concerns two cases of rape, one of which is the one reported in yesterday's complaint by a 25-year-old foreigner. The prosecution investigation conducted by Prosecutors Kostas Spyropoulos and Nikos Stephanatos identified the second rape case which arose from the first complaint filed against the artist with the act against the complainant being barred by the statute of limitations. Active however is the act that was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office after that complaint.
The case file was forwarded to the investigator who agreed to issue the arrest warrant , before whom he will be brought for his apology.
Earlier today, the well-known director and actor went to the General Police Directorate of Athens with his lawyer.
Dimitris Lignadis and his lawyer asked to meet with a police officer and be informed about the rumored arrest warrant for the former.
After they were informed that no arrest warrant had been issued, nor was there any information from the Justice Department, they left the GADA. However, later, the authorities proceeded to arrest him.
