Mayor's Meetings

The Mayor of Kythera, Mr. Eustratios Charhalakis, in the context of his planned official travel to Athens, held the following meetings:

1. With the Mr Konstantinos Katsafados, Deputy Minister of Shipping and Island Policy and Mr Emmanuel Koutoulakis, Secretary General of the Aegean and Island Policy (01/03). The funding of the Ministry of Shipping to our Municipality for the treatment of water scarcity and for the lease of a desalination plant in Antikythera for the summer of 2022 was discussed. In addition, the Mayor thanked the political leadership for the excellent level of ferry service to Kythera and Antikythera with the 2 vessels (local and regional), given the start of the 2^no route to Gythio.
2. With the Deputy Minister of Interior Mr. Stelios Petsas (03/03), which finalized the priorities of our Municipality for the projects to be included in the «ANTONIS TRITSIS» programme. The top priority is the water supply projects for which positive developments will soon be made. In addition, institutional issues of the island municipalities, the need to extend the administrative support of the Municipalities of the Municipalities and other current issues were discussed.
3. With the Minister of State Mr. George Gerapetritis (04/03) with whom current issues of the Municipality were discussed, as well as the program for the soft settlement of Antikythera with 5 large families through funding from the National Bank, which has caused the special interest of the Government.
4. With the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Mr Christos Stylianidis (04/03) to which the Mayor delivered a detailed memorandum with specific proposals for the fire season, with emphasis on the increase of personnel and means of the Kythera Fire Brigade, the extension of the contracts for fire protection, the parking of an aircraft at the Kythera Airport on high-risk days and in general interdisciplinary operational readiness.

In addition, the Mayor had extensive cooperation with the Technical Services of the Region in Piraeus, regarding the tendering, implementation and completion of the dozens of projects that are being carried out on our island, the total budget of which is the largest ever for our Municipality.
