The bike shop Mazzipetti and the Kythira Foundation for Culture and Development (KIPA), in cooperation with Cultural Association of Portokalia and the Kythera Trails, organize mountain biking and cross-country running races of open type in Karavas Kythera. The races are part of the cup called Svelta Cup 2021-22 and are the second in the series.

Description of routes:
Bicycle: The cycling route will be a 10.5 km cycle of low technical difficulty with long downhills and short uphills but with a relatively steep gradient. It will consist of cobbled roads - rural dirt roads - concrete roads - paved roads as well as a section of marked route M49 of the official trail network of the island - Kythera Trails.
It will pass successively through the following locations/settlements:
Karavas Agricultural School - Niochori - Agricultural School - Vagianika - Kryoneri - Kryoneri - Narrow Plain - Iconostasis - Ammo Square - Kryoneri - Vagianika - Agricultural School.
Running: Regarding the run, it is a 6.7 km cycle with long downhill and short and steep uphill sections. The route consists of cobbled roads - rural dirt roads - concrete roads - paved roads. The 80% of the route is part of the M49 marked route of the official path network of the island.
It will pass successively through the following locations/settlements:
Karavas Agricultural School - Vagianika - Kryoneri - Narrow Plain - Iconostasis - Estate Astarti - Dendiyanika - Kryoneri - Mavrogiorgianika - Amir Ali - Agricultural School.
It is recommended to use trail shoes (trail running shoes - lightweight sports shoes with a special sole for uneven terrain).
The routes will be marked for reconnaissance from 8/1 in the morning.
Water/feed stations: There will be two stations for running and two for cycling.
Stations may be modified depending on weather conditions.

PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS' COMPETITIONS
Circular route within the Patrician School of Agriculture in the form of qualifying races for cycling.
The route will be modified for children aged 6-9 years old.
AWARDS
The top three (3) finishers in each category in each sport will be awarded. All participants will receive a commemorative medal.

OTHER INFORMATION
-Right to participate in the races are those who have reached the age of 18 years. For minors, the completion of an affidavit of the guardian is required (provided by the organization upon receipt of the entry number).
-Helmet use for cycling is mandatory.
-For the participation in the race the respective health protocols of the GGA apply.
-The use of a mask in the starting area and secretariat is mandatory.
PARTICIPATION FEE
10,00 € for the cycling race
5,00 € for the running race
12,00 € for participation in both sports.
Payment will be made upon receipt of the entry number.
Entries under the age of 18 are free of charge.
