For not fulfilling what was agreed and general mockery on the part of the municipality, says the island's veterinarian, Katerina Stathathatou. Ms Stathathatou, in contact with the Kythera.News, described to us the «bureaucratic Calvary» which has been rising in the last year, as a result of the delay on the part of the municipality to meet the agreed upon vaccination of the island's stray animals, which, moreover, arise from its contractual obligations.
More specifically, Ms Stathatou, after referring to the exhausting and time-consuming ordeal of collecting all the necessary documents, described in the darkest terms the month-long «hazing» to which he was subjected by the city's services. She cited delays due to covid, backlogs and frozen payment codes, culminating in the last payment invoice, which the city, after paying it off, forced her to return the money, with the excuse that the payment was made from the wrong account. An obligation, which remains outstanding and demonstrates the complete lack of communication on the part of the municipality, as the veterinarian denounces.
After recalling that the municipality is legally responsible for the management of stray animals, she states that she is not able to take over the contract for the current year for the vaccination of animals, precisely because of the general attitude of the municipality on the issue, which cost her in both suffering and expense. Finally, it makes a dramatic appeal to those communities where the problem of stray animals is acute, to negotiate a solution for a happy outcome to the issue.
We should mention here that Mrs.Stathatou made sure to make public, through her personal Facebook account, the chronicle of her suffering. This was followed by an intervention - comment by the mayor, Mr. Efstratios Harhalakis, who scolded the veterinarian in an aggressive manner, but avoided getting to the point and when she did, referred her to the... Cashier Service. The inelegant position of the mayor, caused the reaction of other interlocutors, which caused an unpleasant impression of this behavior.
