Today, 22 days after the tragic accident in Tempe, the trains and the suburban railway were back on track.
The new Managing Director of OSE Panagiotis Terezakis, boarding the first route this morning for Oinoi, in his statements from Larissa Station, stressed: «Both the management and the employees of OSE are determined to put the country's trains back in operation. We declare that we will do everything humanly possible to regain the trust of our passengers. Given that the railway is the most environmentally friendly means of transport, it is worth giving all our efforts to ensure its rapid and safe reopening. We want you to stand by our side because for all of us the next day of the Greek railway is a bet that we must win together. Suburban trains have already started today from Athens to Chalkida and Athens to the airport. Gradually within five weeks we intend to restore the operation of the trains with the safety measures we have announced».
For his part, stationmaster Ioannis Kokkinakis said: «Today, after a long time since the tragic incident - which affected us all emotionally and psychologically - the services to the Airport and Chalkida started. We have 18 services to the Airport and 12 to Chalkida. The orders given to us by the management are two station masters per shift, two drivers and two attendants on the trains, to run the trains at reduced speeds.
