The 88 migrants (20 children, 11 women and 57 men) who were on board a sailing boat west southwest of Paxos and were intercepted by two ships.
Earlier, one of the migrants on board the sailboat called the European 112 number and reported that the boat was in difficulty.
Immediately the Joint Search and Rescue Operations Centre committed five coastal vessels to provide assistance. According to the Coast Guard, the migrants are being temporarily accommodated at the port authority and are not facing any health problem.
