I followed with great interest most of the events for the 50th anniversary of the operation of Kythera State Airport that took place a few days ago on the island. Such a moment in time - apart from the impressive events - is an ideal opportunity for a meaningful review and new planning, given the importance of the airport not only for the transport work it offers, but also as an irreplaceable lever for the development of the island.
Looking at this very interesting course, you cannot help but associate the very creative work of the airport's development with the people who produced it. After all, nothing happens by itself. So, apart from those who envisioned it and fought for its creation in the first place, whom we honour, some workers had to work hard and ‘exaggerate themselves’ and in very difficult conditions so that we can celebrate today and so that some people can make ’celebratory speeches’ as lecturers at a neoliberal seminar. In any case, a key factor in the successful development of the airport - and hierarchically, to be sure - is undoubtedly the former airport manager, Nikos Stachtiaris. He was the one who decided and acted - sometimes on the limits of legality - in order to overcome insurmountable obstacles and to make ‘the building barn and the functional mess ...’ which he received, as he says, in no time at all and not now - and this is important - a modern airport. This course, believe me, is very interesting and ups and downs .......that is worth knowing... Nikos is of Stereoelladian origin and came to Kythera, by his own choice on September 24, on the day of Panagia Myrtidiotissa, in 2000. He loved Kythera, settled here permanently, worked hard and now remains retired since 2016... I have been lucky enough to know him for many years now and I have always shared with him my anxiety about the development of the airport issues... because of its crucial importance for the development of tourism on the island. This makes sense for many people who are active on the island and invest in tourism and beyond. For us it was reasonable ..., but for him, why this passion that I detected ???? Usually in these places, in a place like this ... you seek peace and quiet - especially if you are not disturbed and don't poke around.
Now you will tell me why this creation mania of Nikos ..and why did I get involved with a «Service Omission»....????. Nikos Stachtiaris, the former Airport Manager of Kythera State Airport ‘ALEXANDROS ONASIS’ for 16 consecutive years (his own work and the naming of the airport) ...was not invited to the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the operation of Kythera Airport ...!!!!! The creation was celebrated without its main creator ... even if he was an undivided co-owner . They forgot about him ??? they punished him ???? they succumbed to pressure ???? UNBELIEVABLE. What is really going on???
You will tell me now is this the only strange thing that happens in Kythera or is it not known that ‘’man-eating’’ is the most widespread sport on the island? The continuation in the next ... The question remains, however, why an ... omission to undermine ... such a great effort and the work of the people who worked for its success, at a historic moment for Kythera Airport
