In the conduct of free of charge rapid tests to all teachers and support staff in the schools High schools and the High schools which were reopened on Monday, 01/02, in person, the municipality of Serres, with a view to strengthening prevention and protection measures against coronavirus to the entire school community of the municipality.
This initiative of the municipality of Serres is voluntary and will be done in conjunction with the operation of the free testing platform COVID-19 edu.testing.gov.gr, for teachers and students over 16 years of age, thus contributing to the need for screening in schools.
The mayor Alexandros Chrysafis, in a statement stresses that «our first concern is the safety of students and teachers. For this reason, as soon as the reopening of the high schools in our municipality was announced, we made sure that teachers, school cleaners and school guards could be tested for COVID-19 free of charge if they wished to do so. Thus, we now cover the needs of the entire educational community and support staff in the schools of the municipality of Serres’.
The Department of Education of the municipality of Serres, has informed the directors of high schools about the procedure to be followed by those interested, in order to carry out rapid tests in the certified microbiological laboratory, with which the municipality cooperates.
To date, the municipality of Serres provides free rapid tests to employees of the municipality and municipal enterprises, to all teachers and auxiliary staff in primary and nursery schools, to school cleaners, nursery nurses and employees of the nursery schools as well as to the municipal day-care centres and day-care centres for the disabled.
