The Athens Trial Court decided to acquit Rena Douros, former Regional Governor of Attica, for the deadly flood of Mandra in 2017, in which 25 of our fellow citizens died tragically.
The court declared Rena Dourou unanimously acquitted of the offence of misconduct in office and by a majority vote of two to one ,also not guilty of the acts of flooding by omission by a liable person, manslaughter and negligent infliction of bodily injury.
On the contrary, a majority of the judges ruled ενόχους eight defendants including the then mayor of Mandra, two deputy district governors, foresters and officials from the planning and stream policing departments.
The guilt of the specific defendants relates, where appropriate, to offences of flooding, manslaughter and negligent bodily injury ,while they were unanimously found not guilty of the offence of breach of duty. The proceedings are continuing and the court's decision on the sentences is expected within the day.
