Rena Durou: Visit to the projects of the Life Force Administration in Troizinia

The projects of the Life Force Administration in Troizinia, was the focus of a visit by the Rena Dourou and the former Deputy Governor of the Islands and current Regional Councillor, Panagiotis Hadjiperos. The Administration of Life Force promoted, in the region, targeted development projects, such as the port of Poros and infrastructure projects, thus improving the daily life and quality of life of citizens.

Today the Power of Life in the Regional Council claims the completion of critical pending projects, such as, among others:

1. The study for the further development of the Lagoon of Psifta,
2. The posting of the expansion plan of the town plan of the town of Galata,
3. The network of the biological treatment plant in Spheria of Poros,
4. The completion of 11.5 kilometers of the road from Galata to Apostles' Saints, for which, it should be noted that while the Life Force Management had secured a contractor with a 47% discount and credit, the current Management has declared the Contractor ineligible, with all that this entails in terms of cost increase, and is proceeding with a new tender.

R. Dourou and P. Hadjiperos visited:

• the reconstructed Bridge of Psifta (project budget 500.000 euro),
• the section of the road project of the provincial road junction Dryopi - Agii Apostoli,
• the renovated Galata Municipal Stadium (project budget 330.000 euros),
• the two technologically upgraded boreholes of the TOEV in Lemonodassos (budget 180.000 euro),
• the section of the road connecting the provincial road with the settlement of Pergari and the reconstruction and asphalting of the rural alternative road of Mistretsi (total budget 1 million),
• the restored part of the north-western shelter of Poros (the part of the port damaged in November 2012, with an initial budget of €860,000),
• the water supply project from the Campos of Troizina, Poros, Galata and the settlements of Campos, with a total length of 15.5 km (budget 3.8 million)
• the reconstructed bridge of the Poros settlement, resulting in the tripling of its cross-section to strengthen the flood protection of the area that had been affected by severe flooding in the past (budget 1.3 million).

In addition, heading towards Lemonodasos and Pergari, they passed by the road Galata - Metochiou, for which the Administration of Life Force auctioned a study to widen the road in order to make it safe (budget 1.7 million).

Then R. Dourourou and P. Hadjiperos visited the citrus processing plant, with a significant export presence, “K. Avgerinos” and the Nurseries C. Kostelenos “Olea”, which has a prominent position worldwide in research for improving the quality and yield of olives.

Finally, they met with the President of the Community of Galata, Evangelos Gerasimou. The meeting was attended by the Coordinator of the OM of Troizinia, Thanos Zoumbos and the member of the OM, T. Goumas.

Meeting with the only living Asia Minor refugee

In Poros, Rena Dourou and Panagiotis Hadjiperos, paying tribute to the Asia Minor refugee Hellenism, visited Michalis Hadjiperos, the only living Asia Minor refugee (born in Vourla, Asia Minor on March 25, 1922) who lives in the old refugee settlement of the city, together with his wife Vasiliki, who comes from Troizinia. “Refugees yesterday, refugees today, the fate of refugees is common, the uprooting of people is horrifying, and that doesn't change,” said Mr. Michalis, bullish at 100 years old.
