A man drove up to the monument in a farm truck Unknown Soldier in downtown Athens. The man in question is a 58-year-old farmer who had two empty jerry cans, another one filled with water, and a nearly empty propane tank in his car.
The man has been taken into custody by the national security. At this time, it is unknown how the man managed to reach the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, nor are his motives known.
The pickup truck has been removed from the area. The truck was covered with slogans such as «people’s court» and «the Turks rule Greece.». Amalia Avenue is currently closed.
