Ralance Harhalaki with a demonstration of works... in the Kousouris protest

Immediately the reflexes of Mayor Efstratios Harhalakis a few hours after the publication of the Kousouris protesting about the «bad mess» with the bins in the horseshoe outside the Kythera High School. The Mayor seems to have been annoyed by this protest and instead of responding to it, he made a ’show of force« with a post on Facebook in which he recalls the projects that were done in the Community of Kythera during his term of office. Despite the fact that he has been accused, and recently publicly, of illegalities and careless management in the public works carried out in the area, he bypasses the complaints and tonight's protest and highlights the extent of the interventions which are admittedly significant. With these and other things, it seems that tonight's post has a lot of electoral flavour. Read his post below:

COMMUNITY OF KYTHERA 2014 - 2022

- New lighting in the square, the entrance of the Chora and the parking lot. In 2014 the lighting was almost non-existent and in many places the complete absence of lighting posed serious risks
- New urban equipment in the whole Community: bins, benches, baskets
- Chora Cemetery road with stormwater runoff and network for new above-ground lighting
- New sports centre in Manitochori. Budget 510.000 € with funding from the Region. The project is completed
- Chora Playground: complete renovation and upgrade
- Extension and shoring of the Country Parking
- Belvedere redevelopment
- Completion of a study to highlight MARKATO which, due to the legal dispute, has not been exploited
- Completion of the maintenance study of the old Province which was delayed due to structural adequacy checks of the building. The project has been put out to tender and the contractor will be installed soon
- Financing of renovation studies for the Vitsamaneion School - A/T Building through the «FILODEMOS» programme. The emblematic project of the total renovation of the Vitzamaneion and the A/T building (conversion into a Byzantine Museum) will be financed by the TRITSIS Programme with 600.000€.
- Maintenance of tanks, pumping stations and boreholes, radical reconstruction of the central reservoir of Chora and Kapsali, replacement of old water supply networks
- Remote control, automation, upgrading water supply networks (NSRF)
- Important cultural events (Philosofofof, Concerts, etc.)
- Maintenance of school units (Gymnasium, Lyceum, Board of Education)
- 12-hour operation of the Castle and the Arch. Museum after our interventions
- Rural roads - cementing
- Removal of dangerous boulders in Manitochori
- Interior paving in Chora
- New hydrants and hydromouths (Manitochori, Fyroi, etc.)
- New road signs throughout the Community
- Asphalt paving: Melidoni, Felioti, Stratopodi, Chalkos (starts immediately), Kalamos, Kapsali
- Promotion and beautification of the Kasapi pavilions
- Completion of the coastal wall of Kapsali
- Completion of Kapsali coastal lighting
- Maintenance of the Customs-Limestock Building in Kapsali
- Restoration of damage to the Back Glass
- Opening of fire safety zones in PURCO
- Opening of Agia Elesa bends by MOMKA
- Completion of ISPS studies and procedures for the port of Kapsali
- Sedimentation restoration in Koukos
- Renovation of the Veterinary Clinic
- Maintenance of the Town Hall and Technical Services Building
- New digital hydrometers
- Connection of the Kytheraiko Association and the Museum with the sewerage network
- Commissioning of the updating of Chora regeneration studies (completed)
- National Resistance Monument in Kapsali: to be awarded
- Phase B of maintenance works of the Municipal Cemetery of Chora: to be awarded
- Kalamos Playground: 2022 (contract signed)
- Kato Livadi - Kalamos road: it has been funded by the Region and the Programme Contract is expected (submitted by early 2021)
- Relocation of the Regional Clinic to the ANKY building: 2022
- Constant pressure for the concession of the use of the old weather station by the Air Defence Fund (legally complicated)
- New modern Pillars in Capsali from the «FISH» (LEADER) programme: 2022
- Completion of the study of the connection of the western part of Chora, Stavros, Kalamos with the WTP of Kapsali: 2022
- Kapsali public space regeneration studies: 2022
- 300km/d desalination plant in Kapsali from the TRITSIS programme (large quantities of water will be saved for Kalamos and Stavros): the decision on integration is expected

PROGRAMMING:

  1. Seek funding for the comprehensive redevelopment of Chora once the studies have been updated
  2. Seeking funding for the redevelopment of public spaces in Kapsali after the completion and licensing of the relevant studies
  3. The emergence of MARKATO (the implementation of the study requires the resolution of the long-standing legal dispute)
  4. Relocation of the A/T: release of an existing building - New Cultural and Exhibition Centre together with the Vitzamaneion School: an emblematic project for the country, its funding is expected immediately from the TRITSIS programme
  5. Lighting of Chora ring road from the entrance to the high school
  6. Implementation of mass sports programmes at the new sports centre in Manitochori
  7. Country Car Park Marking
