With rapid test in dentist even vaccinated patients, according to a decision published in Government Gazette B 4337/18.09.2021 and caused the reaction of dentists.
It is worth noting that the provision does not only concern dental operations, but imposes the obligation to carry out a rapid test and to vaccinated persons for any invasive examination or for an examination likely to cause gas in a public or private health facility. «Patients attending a public or private health facility for an invasive examination or for an examination that may cause aerosolization are subject to laboratory testing using rapid antigen tests within 48 hours before the examination,» the decision states.
Unvaccinated patients will be subjected to a molecular test and unvaccinated patient chaperones to a rapid test. Vaccinated chaperones will not be tested for dental appointments.
According to information cited by SKAI, the Ministry of Health does not intend to change the provision, but a clarifying circular is expected to be issued.
Speaking on SKAI 100.3 radio, the president of the Dental Federation, Athanasios Devliotis, considers the measure unfeasible, noting that dentists observe all measures for their protection.
He added that the federation from last week called for the immediate amendment of this EIS and that the Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, pledged to change it, but he did it by half, ie only for the escorts of patients.
