The first comic «Wonder Woman» was sold for a seven-figure price at an auction by Heritage Auctions.
The Amazon warrior's first appearance in DC Comics was in the eighth issue of All Star Comics, published in 1941.
Despite more than seven decades having passed, one lucky collector still had a copy of the issue that scored a 9.4 CGC rating and Heritage Auctions has now sold it for a staggering $1.62 million.
In addition to the first Wonder Woman comic, another one has grabbed the spotlight: the cover of the first issue of The Dark Knight Returns from the 1980s, created by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley.
The cover sold for $2.4 million and was the most expensive in Heritage Auctions' Comics & Comic Art Signature auction, which raised $24 million from June 16-19.
Other notable sales, were two copies of Fantastic Four #1 sold for $420,000 and $240,000, and a copy of issue 29 of Detective Comics was acquired for $276,000. An issue of Amazing Spider-Man sold for $43,200, breaking a new record for comics since the 2000s.
