The Municipal Port Fund of Kythera submitted a funding proposal to the Call «PUBLIC INVESTMENTS FOR THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF FISHING AREAS» of the Network of Cooperation of Municipalities of the Attica Islands in the framework of the Local Programme CLLD/LEADER «Culture & Environment “On the Road”».
The proposal entitled «Upgrading of Port Infrastructure of the Municipal Port Fund of Kythera» has a total budget of 218.600€.
The proposal provides for the implementation of actions aimed at upgrading port infrastructure in order to improve the services provided and safety for users of port facilities. More specifically, the proposal to upgrade the infrastructure of Kythera Port Authority includes the following:
- Systems of submersible waste & recycling bins of graduated compression, which will be installed in areas under the jurisdiction of the Port Fund and collect a large number of visitors - especially during the summer months - resulting in the existing waste and recycling bins regularly overflowing with waste, creating unhygienic and unsightly conditions.
- Modern Pylons for Electrification and Water Supply of Ships (pillars), which will be installed in the main port infrastructure for the service of boats, both passing through and professional fishermendocked in them.
- Integrated Port Infrastructure Management and Promotion System, through which the Municipal Port Fund will have a real-time full picture of berths and the ability to display information on the availability of berths and other services to any interested party via the internet.
4.Equipment for the passenger waiting area at Diakofti Port, in order to to be modernised and made fully operational for both summer and winter months.
The Municipal Authority and the Management of the PPC are exploiting every financial opportunity, both national and European funds, for the benefit of the local community and citizens, proving in practice that methodical work brings results.
