With the dominant slogans «In Gaza beats the heart of the world, with Palestine to freedom», «Freedom for Palestine» and «No participation, no involvement, no involvement, NATO and the Americans out», a large march in solidarity with the Palestinian people took place on Sunday, November 5, from the Constitution to the Israeli Embassy.
Earlier, a rally-concert of trade unions and mass organizations of Attica took place at Syntagma with the participation of thousands of people.
The rally was addressed by the Ambassador of Palestine, Youssef Dorchom, while the speaker from the Food and Tourism Syndicate of Attica was George Stefanakis.
A message was read at the rally by Mohamed Amanadi, Commissioner for Popular Organizations and Trade Unions in Palestine.
A special moment of the rally was when two young children, wearing Palestinian headscarves, speaking in Arabic and Greek, described the life of children in Gaza under the Israeli occupation, while they also spoke about their hopes, saying: «We hope to have a homeland in which we will live in peace, to go to schools, playgrounds, family and school outings, to paint under a tree a clear sky and a bright sun, a country in which we will live in safety and without fear.».
The rally at Syntagma began with the anthem of Palestine composed by Mikis Theodorakis in 1981 at the request of the leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Yasser Arafat, during his visit to Greece, while the musical composition of Mikis Theodorakis was later approved by the Palestinian Parliament, in order to become the official anthem of the Palestinian State when its official establishment is achieved.
The concert at Syntagma was attended by: «Romiosini», «Yperastikoi», Dionysis Tsaknis, «Kollektiva», «Magic De Spell», «Common Mortals», Rita Antonopoulou and «Revans».
