The ships will remain tied up in ports across the country for another 48 hours, as the Executive Committee of the Panhellenic Seamen's Federation, at today's meeting, decided to escalate its mobilization, with a new 48-hour strike in all categories of ships, starting at 00.01 at dawn on Sunday 12th December 2021, and ending at 24.00 midnight on Monday 13th December.
«Unfortunately, the facades have fallen. The employer side in its plans and methodologies for the annihilation and circumvention of our rights to date, acquired over the years through struggles and efforts, does not «horns before nothing» and with the intensification of negative behavior believes that it will bend our fighting spirit to lead us to accept the appetites of the »stresses in a statement of the Panhellenic Seamen's Federation.
PNO calls on the employers« side »to reflect on its attitude and give the right and fair solution to end the impasse«, while at the same time denouncing the Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy for his »unruly attitude of a mere observer".
It also calls again for the understanding and full support of both the travelling public and all workers in the country, while warning that «anyone who dares to use any strike-breaking mechanism or any “security ship” should think twice, as this action will only add fuel to the fire of our struggle“.
The seafarers' union is calling for wage increases in the Collective Labour Agreements for 2020 and 2021, but also for a solution to the problems of the sector.
«We are also fighting for the organic compositions, for the protection of unemployed seafarers, for the repatriation of our colleagues, for the acute problems at KESEN, GENE, the rescue services, in education, in the registers, but also for social and insurance rights, the tax law and the abolition of all anti-labour laws.
Finally, PNO calls on all seafarers to be present at the strike meeting of our Federation on Monday 13 December 2021 at 10.30 am at the Port of Piraeus, opposite the Electric Station at Blue Star Delos.
