A series of regulations for the market and consumer protection are included in a bill of the Ministry of Development and Investment submitted today in the Parliament.
These provisions inter alia modify the obligations of undertakings when announcing price reductions as follows:
“Any notice of price reduction shall indicate the previous price applied by the trader for a specified period of time prior to the application of the price reduction. The preceding price shall be the lowest price applied by the trader during the thirty-day period preceding the application of the price reduction. Where the product has been on the market for less than thirty days, the preceding price shall be the lowest price applied by the trader during the period in which the product has been on the market. Where the price is progressively reduced during the thirty days preceding the application of the price reduction, the earlier price shall be the price in force before the application of the first of the successive price reductions.
By other provisions:
-The validity of the «household basket» initiative is extended until 30 June.
-It is provided that producer and professional seller licenses of farmers' markets, which have not been renewed at the entry into force of the law, can be renewed until 30.4.2023.
-It is stipulated that consumer associations are responsible for the accuracy of the information they communicate to inform the consumer public and when they communicate data resulting from surveys they have carried out, they must make available to the consumer public and any interested party the data relating to the manner in which the survey was carried out. The communication of incorrect information by a consumer association to the public shall constitute grounds for the withdrawal of its certification.
-The immediate tax relief is foreseen for companies that implemented investment plans within 2022, but their control by the administration was not possible.
-The Hellenic Space Centre is proposed to the country's technological institutions.
