Three private universities with branches in Greece will not be able to operate, at least during the new academic year, as the Third Section of the Council of State revoked their operating licenses and all of their degree programs due to legal issues with the regulatory acts governing their operation.
Specifically, the decisions of the Council of State—presided over by Vice President Diomedes Kyriopoulos—which annul the regulatory acts governing the programs, concern private universities CITY University, Keele University, and Anatolia College.
He had filed an appeal with the Council of State Panagiotis Lazaratos, a professor at the Athens Law School, who stated in a statement:
«I welcome today’s decisions, for which I have invested a great deal of personal effort. May these decisions serve as a message that reinforces citizens» trust in the justice system and the ideal of a high-quality education for Greek children.”.
