The Municipality of Kythera issued a press release regarding the cementing of the last part of the road to Firi Ammos Kalamos. Read below:
The Mayor of Kythera, Mr. Efstratios Harhalakis, signed the contract for the construction of the project “Reconstruction of the road to Phyri Ammos”, with a total design budget of 74.400€. The contractor is the company “PAKTOSI TECHNIKI IKE” and the contract amount after the achieved discount (18,7%) is 60.510,12€ including VAT. The financing comes from the resources of the Public Investment Programme.
It is planned to complete the road with concrete paving, the construction of storm water drains and the construction of the parking area for the convenience of the bathers. The deadline for completion is 5 months. As a reminder, the majority of the paving was done in 2015-6 with our City's own funds.
Our Municipal Authority, from the first moment it took office, has set a clear programme for the improvement of road access to the popular beaches of Kythera, promoting the major road projects to Melidoni, Kaki Lagada, Kaladi, Chalko and Phyri Ammos, through the use of significant funding, made possible thanks to the constant claiming of resources in order to upgrade the island's infrastructure.
Finally, the Region has been asked by the Region to prepare studies for the roads to Fournoi and Feloti, with the aim of seeking funding in the coming months.
