«No one can gamble with the future of our islands».

-On 1η meeting did not come to the 2η they came.

-They initially claimed that our proposals to tackle water scarcity in Kythera were not good. So we removed some and modified others (without, of course, changing the basic rationale for immediate solutions) to achieve broader agreements. They agreed but did not vote for them...

-Originally they said that they did not need to attend any regular Board meeting because they had been informed by the mayor and other persons in whom they had confidence! Eventually they did attend.

-They are now saying that the proposals will be discussed in the autumn.

The municipal majority competes equally with the vice president of Edessaikos in the clarity of statements and choices. That's all, nothing else...

The municipal majority it is said and done by an obscure mayor who has failed (after 10 years in office) to solve the water supply problem (and the sewerage and the garbage collection and the recycling and the transport and the building of schools and and and)...

The municipal majority can no longer hide behind the «invention» that the opposition «has no proposals». The opposition appeared united on this issue, put forward specific proposals which were simply rejected by the municipal majority without any real explanation.

The municipal majority cannot be hidden behind certain outbursts of justified anger from Greek opposition councillors (who even acknowledged their mistake).

Unfortunately for the Mayor and the majority councillors, the situation is not changing because they themselves refuse to see it:

-Water supply interruptions are constant.

-There are settlements that have no water at all.

-The network faults are also constant.

-There is no coherent strategic plan to definitively address the problem.

We «we have sounded the alarm bell» on the issue of the island's water supply. We have put forward concrete and realistic proposals.

Demonstrating our consensual spirit, we have accepted amendments to our proposals.

We will be present at every Board meeting demanding solutions and submitting elaborate proposals for the hot problems of Kythera and Antikythera.

But there is a major issue: The problems are getting bigger every year, while the Mayor and the municipal majority are demonstrably incapable of handling them. The anger of the residents, professionals and visitors to our islands cannot be hidden. No one can gamble with the future of our islands.

PS. The absence of the Deputy Mayor Mr.Kominos from the regular meeting of the City Council on 14/08/2024, who declared that he is suffering from coronavirus, caused a surprise. But today he attended the celebration of the Virgin Mary of Myrtidiotissa.
