In unpleasant measures is expected to be taken by the governments of many European countries, if the snow shows its teeth, as long as the crisis that has brought repeated increases in energy prices continues.
More and more people are now talking openly about the issue and preparing (which the Germans have been doing since the summer) their citizens for measures that could be called extreme.
In Greece -so far- the weather has proved to be an ally as temperatures remain at high levels for the season in most of the country. This situation, however, will not last forever and what will happen in the future will probably be seen by the movements in Western and Northern Europe.
From what has become known so far, many scenarios that will not remain on paper but will eventually be implemented will bring huge lifestyle changes that we take for granted.
It should now be considered a certainty that we are mathematically leading to staggered power cuts, since according to the report in Germany, France and Great Britain the competent authorities have come up with this solution and are warning citizens about it.
In this context, residents of many European cities anticipate that at peak times it is likely that whole areas being left without power, with hospitals, schools, nursing homes and similar structures being the only ones to be exempted. But if the situation becomes even more difficult, it is possible that they will go one step further and to put a «lock» on educational institutions.
However, having children at home may solve one problem and save more energy, but it creates another. What will they do at home, since two more measures that have been put on the table are blackouts on mobile telephony and the internet!
In addition, it is absolutely certain (and in some countries it is already in force) that another way of saving energy is the restriction of the use of electricity in the public sector, where, apart from the buildings, road signs will be affected, with traffic lights not working during peak hours...
