A small, beautiful bulbous plant that we found in rocky coastal areas east of Kythira. Its name comes from P. P. R. de Belleval (1558–1632), one of the first systematic botanists. It owes its hyacinth-like appearance to its color and obvious resemblance to the famous representatives of the family. It is a bulbous, perennial plant, endemic to Greece.

Belevalia hyacinthoides
