For «a great and bright day, which proves in practice that the Public Sector can work with Foundations that share the same goals, vision and philosophy, in order to give back to the global society, on the day of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, such an emblematic project», the Prime Minister said, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during the inauguration of the new lift at the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis, which, as the Minister of Culture stressed Lina Mendoni, constructed under the cooperation of the Onassis Foundation and of Ministry of Culture.
Mitsotakis pointed out that both the new lift and the new routes make the Acropolis accessible to all those with mobility difficulties, but also to elderly people. «This government does not like words, but is moving on to action. Therefore, today we are presenting to the public this emblematic project that could not have become a reality without the help of the Onassis Foundation,» said Mitsotakis, who recalled that the government has put the Onassis Foundation's project for public consultation. National Plan for the Rights of People with Disabilities, which provides for accessibility to all and everywhere.
The Prime Minister stressed that the routes have been constructed in full respect of the law, under the supervision of the president of the Acropolis Monuments Conservation Committee Manolis Korres and expressed regret for the opposition's criticism of an ecumenical, as he described it, project that should unite us all.
«The National Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is a personal commitment of mine, you all know the reasons why I have a personal sensitivity,» the Prime Minister said, thanking again all those involved, because -as he said- they delivered such a difficult project within the timeframe foreseen.
Subsequently, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, together with Lina Mendoni and Manolis Korres, inaugurated the lift and toured the new routes of the Acropolis.
