The Police holds responsible for the events that took place at noon on Sunday, 07/03, in the square of Nea Smyrna, a large part of the inhabitants of the area. Residents, refer to an unprovoked intervention and unprecedented savagery with which civilians were beaten, in front of the frightened eyes of families.
Resident who spoke to NSTV noted about the incident that made the rounds of the Internet: «The police turned up and went to fine a family with two children and three adults sitting on a bench. In trying to explain that to them and they have sent movement code and did not create a problem, they asked for IDs and people who were at the spot protested,» the resident notes and adds that upon hearing the protests, «the police reacted with violence and started beating one of them with a folding baton. The young man simply told them that there was no need for all this.».
According to the resident, «Police officers immediately called for backup and on the square were immediately gathered 50 Police officers and started a crescendo of violence». The same resident notes that at no time were police officers ever ambushed and assaulted.
The above, led to a large march of residents, who headed late in the afternoon to the Nea Smyrni police station, in order to protest. The police used chemicals and flash-bangs to disperse them, while the leadership of the National Police issued a statement announcing that an E.D.E. had been ordered for the events that preceded it.

It all started at noon on Sunday, 07/03, in the square of Nea Smyrni, when policemen, in the context of checks for movements, wrote a family, but according to testimonies, presented all the supporting documents. In the protests of passing citizens, the police officers, unprovoked and unprovoked, beat a young man, who had earlier protested, with fury.
